Solving Your Plumbing Problems with Precision and Care: The Plumbing Therapist Approach.

At Plumbing Therapist, we are a family-owned business founded by the Morales family, who are Cuban immigrants. We settled in Tampa Bay in 2011, bringing our passion and expertise in plumbing to the community.

Our founder, Aridel Morales, has always had a love for hard work and an interest in the trade.

Despite graduating as an automobile engineer in 1982, he was unable to pursue his career due to the political and economic climate in Cuba.

Instead, he honed his skills working at a small HVAC company in the tourist town of Varadero, where he gained experience and knowledge in both air conditioning and plumbing.

His reputation as the go-to repair technician for local residents soon spread, and he was joined by his sons Richard and Alex, who helped him in their free time to repair ACs and build new ones to sell.

Where Experience Meets Innovation: The Plumbing Therapist Team in Tampa

In 2011, we seized the opportunity to move to the United States, where my father began working for a remodeling company.

He gained a deep understanding of the American construction industry and later landed a job at a large AC company servicing the Tampa Bay area.

After a few years of honing his skills, our father and his son Richard decided to start their own AC company, which they named The AC Therapist; he also founded a second company called Plumbing Therapist. The name was inspired by Richard’s background as a massage therapist.

Initially, we operated as subcontractors for other companies, but after Richard obtained his contractor license in 2017, we began to build our own customer base through word-of-mouth referrals.

In 2020, Alex, Richard’s little brother, joined the family business to assist in its growth.

Today, we are a thriving company with a growing team dedicated to addressing all of Tampa Bay’s plumbing needs.

Thank you for reading, and we look forward to the opportunity to serve you.

The frequency with which you should flush your water heater can depend on several factors, such as the type of water heater, the quality of your water, and the manufacturer’s recommendations. However, a general guideline is to flush a tank-style water heater at least once a year. This annual maintenance helps remove sediment that accumulates at the bottom of the tank, improving efficiency and prolonging the unit’s lifespan.

If you have hard water, which is rich in minerals, you may need to flush the unit more frequently, perhaps every six months, to prevent excessive buildup of sediment.

For tankless water heaters, the recommendation can vary. Some experts suggest flushing every six months, while others recommend doing it annually. Again, the frequency can depend on water quality and usage. Always consult your unit’s manual or manufacturer’s guidelines for specific recommendations.

Regular flushing as part of a maintenance plan can help your water heater function at its best, saving you money on energy costs and helping to avoid costly repairs or early replacement. If you’re not comfortable doing this yourself, many plumbing services offer water heater maintenance as part of their service offerings.

The plumbing system in a typical house is a complex network of pipes, fixtures, and appliances, all designed to distribute water and remove waste efficiently. Here’s a general outline of how it works:

Freshwater Supply System:

  1. Main Water Line: Water is supplied from a public main or a well. The main water line enters your house and is usually equipped with a shut-off valve for emergencies.

  2. Water Heater: Cold water is directed to the water heater, where it is warmed for use in showers, washing, and other needs. Some homes have tankless water heaters that heat water on demand.

  3. Distribution: From the main line and water heater, smaller supply lines distribute cold and hot water to various fixtures (faucets, showerheads, toilets, etc.) throughout the house.

  4. Pressure Regulators: These maintain consistent water pressure throughout the system. Some homes also have expansion tanks to accommodate changes in water volume as it heats up.

Drain-Waste-Vent System:

  1. Drains: Each fixture has a drain to remove wastewater. Drains from different fixtures connect to larger drain pipes, which carry the wastewater away from the house.

  2. Traps: These are U-shaped pipes under sinks, toilets, and other fixtures that hold a small amount of water to prevent sewer gases from entering the home.

  3. Vent Pipes: These allow sewer gases to escape from the drainage system, venting them outside the home. They also help maintain proper atmospheric pressure in the drain system, which aids in wastewater flow.

  4. Sewer or Septic System: The wastewater eventually flows into a main sewer line, which connects to a public sewer system, or into a septic tank if you have one.

Additional Components:

  1. Fixtures: These include sinks, toilets, bathtubs, and showers, each of which has its own set of valves, handles, and other components.

  2. Appliances: Dishwashers, washing machines, and other water-using appliances are typically connected to both the water supply and drain systems.

  3. Outdoor Plumbing: This includes outdoor faucets, irrigation systems, and sometimes drainage solutions like French drains.

Regular maintenance, such as cleaning drains and flushing water heaters, helps keep your plumbing system running efficiently. Understanding the basics of your home’s plumbing can also help you identify issues early and know when to call a professional for repairs or upgrades.
